About Us

1. Props: We design, build and carry on to the field, the various props used during the marching band show.

2. Uniforms: We fit students for uniforms, do minor sewing adjustments, distribute and collect uniforms.

3. Chaperones: We take attendance and chaperone students on the buses to and from competitions, stay up nights keeping watch at band camp and overnight competitions, cook and/or pick up and serve meals for students during all-day competitions, etc., help load and unload props, instruments and supplies onto the rental truck and band trailer.

4. Instructor Salaries: We pay the salaries of the outside instructors used during marching band, winter percussion and the musical, as well as an outside consultant who designs the marching band show.

5. Instruments: We purchase various large instruments needed for the band but which the music department budget cannot cover.

6. Craft Shows: We run two very successful craft shows each year that generate our major source of income.  We set up the booth spaces, help crafters load and unload, prepare and/or serve food, direct traffic in the parking lots, collect admission at the doors and clean up.

7. Other Fund Raisers: We hold several smaller fundraisers during the year also.  Sometimes the profits from these sales go into the general fund and sometimes the profit goes into individual students’ accounts for band camp or trip fees.  Fundraisers can include magazine sales, Fannie May candy sales, pizza and cookie dough sales and Christmas wreath and poinsettia sales.

8. Musicals: We run a concession stand during the musical performances as well as sew costumes and provide lunch to the cast members during one of the all-day rehearsals.

9. Scholarships & Donations: We provide two $500 scholarships to outstanding senior music students at the end of the school year.  We also provide up to ten $100 scholarships for music students wishing to attend special summer music camps.
